Nowra Men
The end of an era. Nowra Golf Club, as an independent entity is no longer. To survive, this had to happen.
The members should be happy that they will not lose their golf course, but those who have worked for so long to make this venue function as a golf course must be a little sad.
Having been involved with this club in nearly all golf administration, mainly these last 20 + years, I now see a lack of caring in course presentation and this can only be put down to the loss of ‘golfing family’ attitude by course employees. Perhaps the future will see improvement.
Unfortunately, unable to report on Saturday’s event as no results posted online. The Vets managed to get their Tuesday event to me and that was a Single Stableford for boys and girls. The best for the girls was Shirley Moore with 32 pts on c/b from Nan Massingham. Balls ran out at 26 pts. The NTP’s at the 4th went to Sue Hunter and the 16th to Sue Stephens.
The blokes saw John Atkinson make first with 42 pts. Rod Elliott from The Heads took second with the better 39 pts and Ian Smith had to settle for third with his 39 pts. Balls ran out at 33 pts.
The NTP’s at the 8th saw Phil Reid grab the jackpot and Peter Done was closest at the 16th.
The mid-week Stableford saw Col. St. John get up with a solid 41 pts. Skipper Col Lott was good for second with his 39 pts and Stephen Rice secures third with 38 pts. Balls ran out at 32 pts.
That’s it for me for this year. Would like to wish all a Happy and Healthy Christmas and I hope to be back at it some time in January.
