A 17-year-old North Nowra boy charged over an attempted robbery in Wollongong has faced court.

It is alleged around 6.55am on May 5 this year, the teenager approached a 48-year-old man on his morning walk and demanded his iPod.
Court papers said the youth had approached the man in Keira Street, asking him for the time.
The man allegedly told the teenager he didn't have a watch, to which the boy asked about the man’s iPod and was given the time.
It is alleged the boy waited as a police car that was in the area went past before turning and walking after the man.
It is alleged the youth grabbed the man on the arm, demanding his iPod. The man refused, pushing the teenager away.
The man crossed the street and walked home before and notifying the police.
Police searched the area but couldn't find the teenager, but managed to gain a number of pieces of CCTV footage, which identified the youth.
He was arrested by police in the Wollongong CBD in September and charged with assault with intent to rob.
The youth was also charged with intentionally marking a premises without consent, relating to an incident in Wollongong Mall on January 28, in which he allegedly marked a window of David Jones with a marker pen.
Court papers said the teenager, who suffers an intellectual disability, was known to police and had the propensity to commit rail offences.
He didn’t entered any pleas in Nowra Children’s Court and will reappear in February.
