Christmas, it’s all about being with family, sleeping, being with friends, sleeping, going to the beach, sleeping, fishing, sleeping,  going on holidays, sleeping and don’t forget sleeping.

I love it.

However sometimes things happen that interfere with your enjoyment of the holiday season as well as your sleep.

Things like bad behavior in or around licensed premises.

Please remember if you go to the local pub or club and you have a few too many drinks, you could be asked to leave the licensed premises by a member of staff, just go and there will be no more drama.

If you decide to stay and argue the point you are committing an offence, police will be called and you will be facing a $550 infringement notice or if you go to court you could be penalised up to $5500.

The same goes if you are in a public place and you are acting foolish you may also be eligible for a $550 fine if you disobey a police direction to move along.

Please don’t drink to excess because you may well regret it in the morning.

You may even regret it for the rest of your life.

While you are on holidays and in the Christmas spirit, do not become complacent.

Be aware of your surroundings and be proactive towards ensuring the security of your bags wallets and other valuables.

Remember, you may be on holidays but the crooks aren’t.

Lock your doors (house and car) or do not have your handbag or purse loose in the trolley.

When travelling, stick to the speed limit and or the road conditions.

Buckle up including the kids.

Check that your vehicle is roadworthy and check your trailers and boat trailer before towing.

Do not drive long distances without a break and if you are tired, stop and have a rest.

Do not drink and drive.

Remember if you have a big night on the grog, you may still be over the limit the next day.

What would you do without a licence?

Remember you can Dob in a Druggie any time you like by contacting Nowra Police or ringing Crime Stoppers.

And also do not drink and drive.

As always, in case of an emergency call 000. In non-emergencies call the Policelink on 131 444 or your local police station. To provide anonymous information call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000. For domestic and family violence information, visit www.police.nsw.gov.au. For Shoalhaven Domestic Violence officers call 4421 9666 or 4421 9665  or email shoaldvlo@police.nsw.gov.au.
