At the 10th and final event of the 2017 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), Wright was knocked out in the semi-finals by eventual champion Stephanie Gilmore – losing 15.87 to 14.43.
“That was probably one of the funnest, most enjoyable heats I’ve ever had,” Wright said.
“There was definitely a bit of heckling back-and-forth.
“I dared her to give me a wave and she didn't.
“At the end, what an opportunity – it was perfect and the wave that I had just kind of pinched.
“It was amazing, it was so fun.”
