The hospital Theatre Movember Boys have all grown mos of various designs over the past month, raising money for the Black Dog Institute, Veterans and Prostate Cancer.
Seven staff members grew mustaches and as an added incentive for staff to get behind the cause, Shoalhaven Hospital Group acting general manager Brad Scotcher declared if the group raised $1000 he would shave off his beard and moustache, only the second time in 25 years he has been clean shaven.
Also taking part in the fundraising efforts were David Border, Mark Cannon and Nagy Andrawis.
Through various fundraising efforts, including a barbecue at the main entrance of the Shoalhaven Hospital on Thursday, more than $2000 was raised.
And true to his word, Mr Scotcher lost his beloved facial hair in hospital's front foyer much to the delight of a large crowd of staff members.
Theatre nurse educator and current nurse of the year Luke Royston was given the honour and the task of removing the whiskers.
Fellow team member Trev Mills, a registered anaesthetic theatre nurse, also lost his growing effort.
Trev also made the pledge if the group could raise $2000 he would undergo a three quarter body waxing.
That event is set to be staged in coming days, with the thought of raising more money by selling waxing strips.
Mr Scotcher thanked everyone for their support and all those who organised events during the month-long fundraising effort.
“We have raised over $2000 for three very worthwhile charities which is fantastic,” he said.
Admitting it did feel funny to be clean shaven, Mr Scotcher said he could feel his whiskers “growing back already.”
