The Nowra High students wanted to something to support the Shoalhaven Homeless Hub and decided to issue a challenge to Bomaderry High to play a charity basketball match.
From tickets sales $600 was raised and then staff from Nowra High donated further funds and got the tally up to $710.
Jane Donald from the Shoalhaven Homeless Hub collected the money recently and said they appreciated the support from the two high schools.
She added it was heartening to see youths wanting to do something to help others in need.
The money will be used to help pay for things like getting prescriptions filled.
“It’s the simple things that make a difference for someone who is homeless,” Mrs Donald said.
Any group or individual can support the Shoalhaven Homeless Hub.
The Hub is open Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 3pm at 27 Junction Street Nowra and call 4421 8741 for information.
