The cameras, installed in the lane behind the shops, pointing towards the shops, were operational as of Monday.
After consulting with police and community members, the federal government provided $31,000 in funding for the cameras, to be used as a crime deterrent.
Member for Gilmore, Ann Sudmalis MP said she was pleased to see the installation of new CCTV cameras at shops adjacent to the Francis Ryan Reserve.
“This is another election commitment and it is now delivered in Sanctuary Point as part of the Coalition Government's Safer Communities Fund to boost local safety,” she said.
“The two new cameras will complement the seven cameras currently in operation.
“People of Sanctuary Point said they needed improved safety, we listened and delivered.
“The cameras have been installed at the back of the shops to catch any would be graffiti taggers, vandals or thieves.”
Shoalhaven City Council assisted in delivering the additional cameras, by applying for a “Safer Communities” grant.
Mayor Amanda Findley said the community was in urgent need of heightened security.
“Security is a main problem in Sanctuary Point and this grant and the installation of the additional cameras will assist in helping residents and shopkeepers feel safer and hopefully, reduce the crime rate in the area,” she said.
