These two arch Shoalhaven District Cricket Association third grade rivals love playing each other and on Saturday Sussex went home the winner.
Sussex batted first, made 6/195 in its innings and Basin would had been disappointed with the 124 runs it made.
Daniel Lea and Paul Kezik put Sussex in control with their strong efforts.
Lea made 71 runs with eight boundaries and Kezik’s aggressive 55 run included nine boundaries.
Mark Robson chipped in with an unbeaten 28 runs for Sussex.
Basin shared the wicket taking duties around.
The run chase started well for the Basin with openers Stuart Hylton-Cummins and Stuart Dryburg going along well.
However, the Basin lost direction when Hylton-Cummins 36 runs and Dryburg 16 runs got out.
Jason Hornitzky dominated things for Sussex in the field.
Hornitzky took five wickets and he had a hand in a run out as well.
Bomaderry v Nowra
Alex Hedger carried his bat though the Nowra innings to lead his team to victory over Bomaderry on Saturday.
Hedger, at the Bomaderry Sporting Complex, glued the Nowra innings together with his 88 runs which included 12 boundaries.
Jordan Pearson 50 runs with nine boundaries, John White 27 runs with four boundaries and Riley White 25 runs with three boundaries all had fun out in the middle.
Matt Glyde took three wickets for Bomaderry.
Bomaderry’s run chase started well and the Tigers, at 0/40 with openers Kealen Blattner and Bruce Jeffery going along well, would had been confident of success.
However, the Nowra attack gradually started to chip away.
Blattner belted five boundaries and a six in his 31 runs while Jeffery’s 11 runs was more conventional.
Don Kennedy 29 runs with four boundaries and Matt Glyde 26 runs with five boundaries tried unsuccessfully to get the Tigers home.
Tom White and Lachlan Adlington took three wickets apiece for Nowra.
Batemans Bay v Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens
Batemans Bay recovered from the loss of an early wicket to defeat Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens on Saturday at Lyrebird Sports Park.
The Bay lost its first wicket with only four runs on the board but recovered to post 7/168.
Exservos did not click into gear with the bat and was all out for 116 runs.
Jordan MacPherson did most of the damage with the bat for the Bay and his 64 runs included three boundaries.
The Bay’s Matthew Klarica was in an aggressive mood and his explosive 47 runs included five boundaries and a six.
Stephen Knight chipped in with a handy 20 runs for the Bay.
Shawn Higgins and Barry Cumberland took two wickets apiece for Exservos.
Apart from Thomas Wheeler 24 runs with three boundaries and Alec Cooper 22 runs there was not much to get excited about with the bat for Exservos.
Farley Prior led they way with the ball for the Bay and got a four wicket haul.
