Troy looked strong and focused from the start and maintained a consistent pace for the 12.5 laps to finish in 15min 45sec; breaking the 27-year-old record of 15.59 set by Warren Schutz back in 1980.

The small crowd that remained for this last event of the night cheered Troy on and celebrated his record breaking run. Congratulations Troy! It was a great event to witness.

Tim Musson also set a new record on Wednesday in the 40-49 years discus. Tim threw 39.02 metres breaking his previous record of 38.69 metres from last season.

Also throwing well were the boys Blake Hartnett and Cooper Thomson, working hard to improve on their throwing prowess after the recent State Relays. Blake threw 32.75m in the javelin and 28.31m in the discus whilst Cooper recorded 40.15m in the javelin and 34.50m in discus.

Teenage girls Jade Mustapic and Ebony Johnson also recorded some great throws with Jade managing 15.92m in javelin and 19.85m in discus after quite a lengthy absence from Wednesday night competition. Meanwhile Ebony proved her skilful throwing arm with a throw of 26.65m in discus.

In the shot put the juniors showed some strength with Talea Miller throwing 7.51m, Jessie Moffatt 7.11m and Olivia Davis 6.37m. In the boys Hamish McLaren threw the greatest distance with 6.62m followed by Reilly Caswell on 6.59m and Dylan Johnstone on 6.20m.

At the long jump pit our juniors performed well with Akala Miller jumping 2.41m, Laila Hartnett jumping 2.29m and Jessie Moffatt just a centimetre behind on 2.28m.

In the boys event it was Matthew Higham who jumped the longest with 3.99m. Hamish McLaren jumped 3.43m and Reilly Caswell 3.65m.

Meanwhile our regular senior jumpers of Jordan deVries and Liam Dooley were evenly pitted this week with both jumping an equal distance of 4.60m. Sarah deVries wasnt too far behind with her biggest jump of 4.21m however it was Sam Taylor who jumped for joy with his leap of 6.51m.

Back on the track the senior 3000m was won by Brad Sawyers in 10.29. Scott Johnson ran in second in 12.18 and Gavin Dyball crossed third in 15.01.

The junior 1000m was won by Reilly Caswell in 3.31.35 in what was a close race against Matthew Higham who finished second in 3.32.61.

Wednesday night Track and Field competition will be held again next Wednesday night from 6pm.

Dont forget the NSW Country Championships will be held at Wollongong in January over the Australia Day weekend so make sure you put this date in your diary and start thinking about which events you will enter.
