A man will face court on Friday after he was charged with firearms offences after police stopped a car in Nowra.

About 6pm Thursday (November 16), police stopped a car on Quickmatch Street, Nowra East, after it was allegedly seen driving unsafely.
Officers subsequently searched the vehicle allegedly locating a semi-automatic rifle and ammunition.
The items were seized and the 19-year-old male driver and 27-year-old male passenger were arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station.
The older man was later charged with possessing a shortened firearm, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm and possessing ammunition without licence.
He was refused bail and will appear in Nowra Local Court on Friday.
The younger man was released from police custody without charge.
