END OF AN ERA: Head of Junior School at Nowra Anglican College, Susan Pearson, will be farewelled at the end of year festivities.

After almost 18 years of dedicated service, Susan Pearson, Head of Junior School is preparing for retirement from Nowra Anglican College.

Mrs Pearson began at the college in 2000 as Year 1 class teacher, and in the following years was promoted to Head of Junior School.

At that stage there were only two classroom blocks containing a total of six rooms, as well as the administration operating out of the building that had previously housed the Visitor Information Centre.

When Mrs Pearson started there were 175 foundation students – double the predicted number of initial enrolments.

Mrs Pearson said the college transformed into a “vibrant centre of educational excellence”.

The Junior School has expanded to 382 students and there is a total of over 850 students across the College.

“I have appreciated spending every day with the children, delighting in their spontaneity and joie de vivre.

Mrs Pearson has a particular passion for literacy and has worked hard to ensure that every child in the College has a love of reading and words that will continue through their lives.

“It has been a privilege to have been a foundation member of staff and the first Head of Junior School at Nowra Anglican College,” she said.

“I have appreciated spending every day with the children, delighting in their spontaneity and joie de vivre.

“I am leaving at a time when the Junior School is thriving, achieving strong growth and academic success. The children are being nurtured in a caring, Christian environment and are taking advantage of a wide range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities.

“I would like to thank my dedicated staff and our school community for their support and encouragement over the past eighteen years.”

Mrs Pearson will be formally farewelled at the end of year assemblies.
