Two men have now been charged after an alleged armed robbery in Kiama and wild police pursuit in Nowra on Tuesday afternoon.

Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command were called to a general store in Kiama about 2pm (Tuesday, November 14), and were told a car had stopped outside the Manning Street business and a passenger walked inside.

The man allegedly threatened a staff member with a knife, demanding money.

He was handed cash and the man ran from the store and was driven from the scene.

A description of the vehicle was provided to police and distributed via police radio.

Shortly after 2.30pm, a vehicle matching the description was sighted on Bolong Road, Bomaderry.

It was spotted again in the Nowra CBD with what would be a wild chase starting in Berry Street.

A high speed police chase came to an end at the corner of Kalander and McKay streets in Nowra East but not before a number of close calls and an accident in which an unmarked police car was struck by a truck.

The chase went up Berry Street, with several police cars pursuing the white Subaru Impreza.

It is understood the car, which was allegedly stolen, shot across the Princes Highway at the intersection of McKay Street.

An unmarked police car following the vehicle, collided with a truck at the intersection, with the two male officers and the truck driver uninjured.
