The voluntary assisted dying community consultation and information session will be held at the Berry Courthouse on Wednesday, October 25 from 6pm-7.30pm. 

It will be an opportunity for interested local residents to be directly consulted on the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017 (NSW), which was released publicly in May, and was introduced into the Legislative Council in September.

The Bill is likely to be debated in the Parliament in November.

The event will be attended by Lynda Voltz MLC, Shadow Minister for Sport and Veterans’ Affairs, and Member of the Working Group.

As part of the consultation process since the release of the bill, the Parliamentary Working Group invited close to 70 specialist organisations and groups to have their views heard, resulting in several amendments to the bill.

“The Parliamentary Working Group wants to ensure that members of the wider community across NSW have an opportunity to be directly consulted and ensure the framework of the bill meets their expectations” Lynda Voltz said.

“I look forward to consulting directly with Berry residents, and hearing their suggestions for how the Working Group can ensure voluntary assisted dying can be achieved in NSW.”

The NSW Parliamentary Working Group on Assisted Dying consists of Lynda Voltz (Labor), Trevor Khan (Nationals), Mehreen Faruqi (Greens), Lee Evans (Liberal), and Alex Greenwich (Independent).
