Two cars parked across the road from the Shoalhaven Ex-Serviceman’s club were hit with a “vote no” tag on the windows, the third (pictured above) in the club’s underground car park had a vile word and graphic tagged onto the body.
Victims of the attack felt humiliated on the drive home from work at 8.45pm.
“They were super angry and upset,” co-worker Jamie Spresser said.
“I got a lift home and it was really upsetting for them to drive anywhere knowing that people might think they might have done that on purpose in support of the no voters.”
Jamie and her friends believe it was a random attack, as three separate cars were vandalised.
“They were tagging any car within that area,” she said.
They believe it may have been a reaction to a poll released this week, showing 59 per cent of those who have voted in the postal survey were in favour of legalising gay marriage.
“I seriously doubt it wasn't related to the news that came out that morning that the LGBTQIA+ community are ahead in the polls,” she said.
The spray paint was still fresh when they came across the cars.
