Greenwood, of the Bay and Basin Swim Club, posted an impressive time in the women’s 100m breaststroke - putting her hand up for Commonwealth Games nomination in the process.
Greenwood clocked a time of 1:20.15 for a total of 953 points to take the win ahead of fellow Australian teammates Madeleine Scott (1:20.95, 938 points) and Paige Leonhardt (1:21.17 934 points), who finished second and third respectively.
At just 12-years-of-age, Greenwood was the youngest member of the 2017 Para team and will be one to watch in the lead up to Tokyo 2020, with her time from this meet putting her in strong contention for nomination for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
The Canadian Open was created following the International Paralympic Committee’s decision to postpone the World Para Swimming Championships, due to the devastating earthquake that occurred outside Mexico City on September 19.
Following the 18-person Australian team’s success in Canada, in which they claimed 16 wins, 10 seconds and 11 third placings, they decided to to bypass rescheduled games from November 27-December 7.
