Council will review the previous development application lodged by Motorsports NSW before it prepares and submits a DA for the project.
Seven councillors voted in favour of renewed plans, after hours of debate and failed amendments at the council meeting on Tuesday.
“We're spending $17million developing an indoor sporting complex in Bomaderry, which I support,” Cr Watson said.
“Here we are quibbling over $300,000 which could lead to supporting 400 jobs.”
Council will explore options to apply to federal and state government to help funding the project and explore the option for a private partnership.
Cr Mark Kitchener recognised the risk involved in investing resources to the project.
“There is an element of chance in every decision made by councillors,” he said.
“I don't know of any investment that's free of risk and costs nothing.
“Every project council is involved with has money set aside for contingencies because there are no guarantees.”
Council will establish a working group to oversee the process, comprising of council staff and representatives of the South Coast Motor Sports Club Inc.
Mayor Amanda Findley objected to involving South Coast Motor Sports Club members in the working group, arguing there’s a conflict of interest.
However Cr Gash argued that her information was incorrect, and the final motion declared they will be involved in the project.
