It was great to see so many families coming along to the Lake Illawarra event to have a go at some of the many activities, like the casting competition, fishing and trying some tasty seafood being cooked by Wes Murphy from Wandering Woodfire Pizza.
Big thumbs up to the NSW DPI for hosting the events, which were funded the NSW Recreational Fishing Trusts.
Pro Lures Part 2
The more I use Pro Lures the more I get convinced on how effective they are at catching fish. Both Mark Fisher and I have been having good success fishing in the Shoalhaven River using the Pro Lure Grub Tail, particularly in the black and motor oil colours, with flathead, estuary perch and bass all falling for them last week.
The 60mm Pro Lure Grubtail is incredibly effective in so many locations and so many applications. The Grubtail will catch you fish, every species of fish! With added UV, the Pro Lure Grubtail is the most consistent and reliable soft lure in their range. Try the black ones in Jervis Bay as the snapper love them fished on a 1/6th jig head with 6lb line.
The 60mm “Live Yabbie” is a lifelike yabbie lure with an extremely well balanced natural sink rate that fish find irresistible. The Live Yabbie is an example of a purpose designed and built lure. Pro Lure engaged some high profile tournament anglers as part of the testing regime and they were nothing short of astonished with the results. Not only were they catching fish, they were catching tournament winning monsters over the kilo plus mark consistently. Needless to say, the Live Yabbie quickly became one of Pro Lures’ most sought after lures.
This is a heads-up for all bream and bass specialists. The Live Yabbie is an exceptional lure for targeting exceptional fish. Pro Tip: Rig unweighted and weedless when casting into timber or boat hulls. Rig with 1/6th jig heads on long rods with light line in the surf or with 1/8th in St Georges Basin. The new colour “Chartreuse Shrimp” is very effective.
The Pro Lure 65mm Paddle Grub is the epitome of versatility for aggressive bites. You can weight them up to bounce the bottom, work the top water, and explore everything in between. The Paddle Grub is, however, the absolute top shelf choice for ‘pink grubbing’. You’ll get addicted to the slow rolling, explosive, top water action ‘pink grubbing’ provides.
The combination of this shape and technique has met with huge success fished around structure for extra-large bream and bass. The Pro Lure Paddle Grub was designed especially for this technique and has only served to further our passion for fishing the surface. For the visual entertainment of fishing, it really doesn’t get any better. Pro tip: Rig weedless and unweighted or on hidden weights. Crank across the surface and let the lure sink slowly. Pink is deadly.
If you want to try the Pro Lure range go down and see the lads at Totally Immersed Water Sports on the Princes Hwy, South Nowra.
