There will be 40 cowboys from across the country competing in the Professional Bull Riding tournament on Saturday.
Bull riders Will Purcell from Victoria and Matt O’Flynn from Canada are vying for a spot in the final round on Saturday night.
“We’re all gunning to get there,” Matt said.
“It’s what we do for a living at this point in our lives.”
By all reports, the bulls won’t be holding them back.
“We’ve seen the stock over the last two events and I’ve been really impressed with them,” Will said.
“You want the rankest beast, the bull that jumps up high on the front end, and kicks up high on the back end for a lot of points.”
Will recently had a year off due to a shoulder injury that required surgery.
“The passion, the love for it brings you back, it gets in your blood,” he said.
“Once you’re passionate about something, quitting’s not an option.”
Who’s going to win?
“We all compete against each other, but it is a family as well, it’s me and Will against our bulls, and we just let the chips fall where they fall,” Matt said.
“There’s nothing you can do to force your bull to be better, it’s strictly what he wants.”
The boys visited a local pre school, primary school and high school on Friday and spoke to kids about their profession.
Gates open at 5pm, the bull riding starts at 7pm and the event concludes at around 10pm tomorrow.
