The Tomerong Rural Fire Brigade, in conjunction with the Tomerong Community Forum, will be hosting an awareness evening.
The event will be held on Monday, October 16 at the Tomerong Community Hall at 7.30pm.
Peter Allison, president of the Tomerong Community Forum and Tomerong School of Arts said he’s hoping Tomerong residents take the opportunity to learn how to keep themselves and their properties safe this bushfire season.
“We are trying to get as many local people along who live around Tomerong to attend and to be made aware of the potential impacts of this coming bushfire season,” he said.
“We want to show them what they can do to help mitigate the risk of damage or loss of property.”
The awareness evening will include a review of last year’s fire season and an outline of what this year could bring.
Information on planned hazard reductions for the Tomerong area for the 2017 and 2018 fire season will also be on offer.
There will be plenty of tips on how to prepare your property for the fire season and an outline of your bushfire survival plan.
Any queries contact the Tomerong Rural Fire Brigade secretary on 0402 006 540.
