Hundreds of local residents voiced their opposition to the proposed Adani Coal mine by arriving at Seven Mile Beach for an aerial photoshoot in the morning.
The protest was one of 30 across the nation.
“Adani is attempting to build one of the world’s largest coal mines in the Galilee Basin in Central Queensland, which will trash our reef, trash our aquifers and trash our tourism industry,” local activist Bonnie Cassen said.
“Our governments have promised Adani free coal, free water and $1 billion in public money. We don’t want to see $1 billion spent on supporting Adani's dirty mine which will fuel global warming.”
