The organisation staunchly opposed to the development of one of the world’s largest coal mines in central QLD hopes around 100 people turn up for the aerial drone photo.

Rally organiser Bonnie Cassen said even though it’s a QLD mine, there’s local interest in the issue.

“Climate change affects us all,” she said.

“Adani's dirty coal mine will fuel global warming and destroy the Great Barrier Reef. 

“If this happens, we’ll blow Australia’s emissions target we agreed on in Paris.”

The event starts at 11am, and will coincide with 30 events across Australia from Bondi Beach to the Whitsundays, Melbourne, Airlie Beach, Perth’s Cottesloe Beach and north QLD’s Port Douglas.

The coordinated effort is taking place to send a message to Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis and her colleagues – that many Australians don't want to spend $1 billion of public money on the coal mine.

Taxpayers may be required to stump up $1 billion for a loan to Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s company, to fund a section of rail to carry coal to the coast.
