Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a townhouse in Nowra early Thursday morning.

Just before 3am, emergency services were called to Abergerldie Street following reports a property was engulfed in flames.
The occupant, a 44-year-old man, was not home at the time and there were been no reports of injuries.
Nearby residents were evacuated as the fire caused extensive damage to the property, neighbouring townhouses and an attached garage.
Police attached to Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
Officers are treating the fire as suspicious and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
