Fire captain John Dun suggested residents stay indoors.
Seven Fire and Rescue NSW trucks are on scene, numerous RFS tankers. The fire is becoming controlled due to the efforts of aerial water bombers from Sydney. The wind has chopped and changed a few times. We have a number of strike teams standing by at the fire centre.

11.40pm: Firefighters are working to protect homes in West Nowra.
The RFS has asked motorists to avoid the area.
Rural Fire Service crews were called to bush alight off Filter Road on three occasions Friday and over the weekend.
RFS fire investigators and police are looking into all three blazes, which are believed to have been deliberately lit and separate fires on each occasion.
