Each year dapper dudes and dudettes don old-school finery, mount their vintage and classic motorcycles and ride for fun… ah funds, actually both.
The annual Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride took to the roads on Sunday in towns and cities across the world.
The riders raise funds for men’s health and prostate cancer research.
Nowra’s ride organiser Nigel Brookes was impressed when 90 bikes were registered for the town’s third ride.
“Last year we had 30 bikes, so 90 this year is fantastic,” he said.
“It’s gathering momentum. We had vespas to newer classics. We had some great outfits. Even a rider and dog both dressed in tweed.
“Our funds will go to the Movember Foundation,” He said.
The Nowra group were aiming to raise more than $5000 locally. At last count about $7500 had been raised.
Since it was established in 2012, by Sydney man Mark Hawwa, the ride has raised more than $8 million. This year’s target was five million.
