Families camped on the grounds for the festival that continued late into the night.

Festival goers browsed through art installations, mostly inspired by nature, and Arthur Boyd’s famous gallery and homestead.

They attended artistic workshops, were entertained by a sex therapist and were blown away by the orchestra, comprised of traditional instruments and some makeshift instruments. 

Old Erowal Bay artist Nigel Helyer spent a week in residence at Bundanon preparing an installation for the festival.

It’s his fifth siteworks installation in as many years.

Artists there have been working to capture an environmental and cultural portrait of Australia.

His most recent project, two sets of bird boxes nailed into trees, demonstrates the connection between human and bird sounds.

“Human music, in terms of evolution, is based on bird sounds,” he said.

“We have humans imitating birds at one set of bird boxes , and birds making human sounds at the other set.”
