The Bomaderry Football Club suffered a major blow early Saturday morning when its club rooms were burnt down in a fire.
Clubs and businesses are now responding with donations of funds and equipment.
The Bomaderry club needs all the support it can because it has nothing.
All the club’s belongings - team shirts, socks, shorts, canteen equipment, pie ovens, fridge, junior goals, club history, line markers and more is gone.
Nothing is salvageable but this proud club has vowed to be back next season.
The Kiama Football Club was one of the first groups to offer support to the Bomaderry committee.
President of the Kiama Football Club Mike Emin and club member Chris Hudson arrived on Wednesday with a whole heap of equipment for the Tigers.
"The Kiama Club donated a set of full-size nets, four pop-up goals, 36 balls, 20 new balls from one of the club's major sponsors Rebel Sports Shellharbour, six new corner flags, marker cones and a pie warmer,” Mr Hudson said.
"I read the story in the South Coast Register (on Sunday) and phoned Mick, who promptly organised the new balls and pop-up nets with our sponsor, the whole thing just took 48 hours to organize.
"We hope its just a start of things to come from other clubs.
“I would like to think that we have started the ball rolling and through the media, other club's will see this, come onboard and start donating items for the re-building of the Bomaderry club.”
General manager of Country Motor Company, Allan Bryant, also gave the club a donation of $1000 to help get more much needed gear.
President of the Bomaderry Football Club, Jeremy Beech, said they appreciated the support – see video.
Also the Shoalhaven Football Association's committee will also be supporting the Bomaderry Football Club and has decided to have bucket collections at all of the grand finals this Saturday at Ison Park.
Over the off-season the Bomaderry commmittee will working on having the club up and running before next season.
A club stalwart summed up club members’ feeling - “to say I am completely disheartened is an understatement”.
