Entries close to the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award on September 29 with a new $20,000 non-acquisitive first prize.
The exhibition of finalists opens November 10 at the Project Contemporary Artspace on Keira Street.
John McDonald, art critic for Fairfax, will judge the prize, which is open to all Australian artists over the age of eighteen.
Previous winners include an images of skulls, a shopping trolley filled with groceries, paint brushes, a bowl of onions, an empty slushy cup, a crushed plastic cup and a landscape.
