A man who lost two fingers in a circular saw accident on the South Coast and another who was injured when a grinder wheel exploded in his face at Cringila are among a number of serious incidents that have prompted a statewide safety warning.

Since July 1, NSW paramedics have been called to almost 50 cases of traumatic injury caused by tools such as electric saws and angle grinders.
Earlier this month, a 51-year-old man amputated two fingers with a circular saw at Rosedale, south of Batemans Bay.
Paramedics arrived at a home on Tallwood Crescent about 12.15pm on September 4 and found the man with his two right-hand fingers only partially attached.
He was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital for treatment.
In another power tool incident, a 50-year-old man sustained facial injuries when a grinder wheel exploded at Cringila on August 16.
NSW Ambulance Chief Inspector Brian Parsell said “the path to home renovation was historically paved with good intentions that turn traumatic, with many injuries caused by inattention or rushing to get a job done.
