There are 30 firefighters on the ground monitoring and containing the fire at Jervis Bay that has ripped through 650 hectares of bush land, and continues to burn.
At sundown last night, Rural Fire Service crews started back burning, and they have plans to continue this through the day to prevent the fire from spreading and threatening properties.
The fire poses no direct threat to homes or properties.
Jervis Bay residents are under no immediate threat from the fire, but have been advised to continue monitoring conditions, and checking RFS Facebook pages and local radio for updates.
Jervis Bay Road and Wreck Bay Road remain closed.
“The roads will be closed for some time until conditions ease, and we can be sure it wont jump Jervis Bay Road,” RFS spokesman James Morris said.
“It may reopen later this afternoon, depending on conditions.”
Residents with serious concerns about the fire have been advised to contact the bush fire information line: 1800 679 737.
