The former Shoalhaven Tourist Information site could become the new home to two towers featuring 73 apartments, retail and commercial components.

THE Nowra Gateway, proposed for the corner of the Princes Highway and Pleasant Way in Nowra, will be home to 73 residential apartments.

The two towers, one six and the other four-storeys, proposed for the former Shoalhaven Tourist Information site and will also contain retail and commercial components.

Plans for the proposal show there will be 11 apartments on level two and 62 apartments between levels three and six.

There will be two levels of residential living in the four-storey building, on top of ground floor retail and first floor commercial.

The six-storey tower will have one level of retail on the ground floor and five-storeys of residential area.

Total residential area is 7200 square metres.

The plan also includes 3900 square metres of retail space, which includes a separate 400 square metre cafe/restaurant area and 1500 square metres of commercial area.

Both sites will have basement parking.

Sydney group, Asset Group Solutions, is in negotiations with Shoalhaven City Council for the purchase of the site for between $2.5 and $4 million.

The site is also home to the historic Graham Lodge, which under the plan will remain and be totally refurbished before being given back to council as part of the deal.

The well-known Nowra landmark, the Iroquois navy helicopter, is not part of the land sale, although there is no sign of it in any of the artists’ impressions.

However the proposal states the helicopter would be integrated into the facade, mounting to any prominent component. There was also the potential for further development into the navy monument and naming inspiration to the project.
