One local resident stumbled on the body of the dead joey this morning (Wednesday, August 16) and has alerted the authorities.
“It’s shocking and horrible,” she said.
“This was the third one we have found and it looks like someone is deliberately killing them.”
The resident found the body on the median strip just near the Sanctuary Point service station.
Her children saw the body.
“It’s really upsetting because my children really love animals,” she said.
“It’s just so cruel and why would you do anything like this?”
She found the body at 7.30am this morning (Wednesday) and the body was still there in the afternoon.
Only the bottom half was left on the ground.
“We don’t where the top half is,” the resident said.
Both Shoalhaven Police and Wildlife Rescue South Coast know of the incident.
People with information can call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
