About 2.20am, a couple in their 60s were confronted in bed by a man who had forced entry to their home in Bluewattle Road.
The intruder demanded cash before allegedly striking the 67-year-old man with a piece of timber.
The pair struggled into the hallway before the man left the house, taking a handbag, a wallet and the couple’s Mazda 323.
The stolen car was found burnt out off Quinns Lane at South Nowra later that morning.
Police were called to the property and a crime scene established.
The 67-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries to his hand, shoulder and chest. His wife was not physically injured.
The intruder is described as being about 175cm tall and wearing dark-coloured long, loose pants, a hoodie and a cap.
Police have spoken to nearby residents and have also appealed for anyone who may have CCTV footage in the area to come forward.
Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Nowra Police detectives on 4421 9699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
