All Shoalhaven primary school students are eligible for the award and nominations are being sought from any local primary school teachers.
The award was created by the Shoalhaven Crime Management Unit, which identified a need to acknowledge some of the positive behaviour of the young people in their school community.
This lead to the creation of the Shoalhaven Local Area Command Integrity Award to identify those young people who act in a manner in their school community similar to the policing role,
Nominees for the award need to have displayed conduct such as
· Showing honestly.
· Showing pride within their school community.
· Showing pride in their school uniform.
· Acting in the school’s statement of values.
· Showing leadership.
· Taking responsibility.
· Considering others feelings.
Shoalhaven LAC Youth Liaison Officer, Senior Constable Kyrianna Van Den Belt said each school is requested to nominate one student from their school.
“If there is a specific example please also include details,” Snr Const Van Den Belt said.
“All nominations will be reviewed by the Local Area Commander with a finalist selected.
“The finalist will be presented with a certificate and acknowledgement from the Shoalhaven LAC”.
Award nominations should be returned to Nowra Police Station by close of business Wednesday, September 20.
The finalist will be notified within a week of the closing date.
