The 38-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with having intercourse with a 15-year-old Shoalhaven girl.
Court papers stated the alleged incident happened between January 1-4, 2015 in Ulladulla.
The man faces two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a victim under 16 years and indecent assault.
The man did not enter any pleas before Nowra Local Court registrar Craig Cockburn on Tuesday.
The matter will be back in court next month.
