A runner in the Provincial Championships final earlier this year, Budderoo Knight produced a dominant sprint under the urging of Peter Wells to gun down tearaway leader Jorgeus in the shadows of the post.
“He was deadset the only horse you wanted to be on at the corner,” co-trainer Rob Price told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
“Credit to the horse that run second. He really got away from us there and took a lot of running down.
“It was a good effort and there will be plenty of improvement in him.”
Price felt Budderoo Knight would be suited by a step up in distance to 1400m later this preparation.
The trainer will travel to Canterbury on Wednesday with veteran stayer Tradtri set to contest the #theraces Benchmark 70 Handicap (1900m).
Kathy O’Hara will pilot the 10-year-old.
