THE 2017 Waratah League Division One campaign is over for the Kennedy Tours Shoalhaven Tigers men’s team, after losing a thrilling quarter-final 81-79 on Saturday.

Playing at Belconnen, Ian Ozolins men led by as many as 15 mid-way through the second quarter, before allowing the hosts back into the encounter.

“We started the game brilliantly, disrupting Canberra’s offence, pushing the ball and finding the open man,” Ozolins said.

“In the second quarter, we lost our way a little, with fouls hurting us but we still led by six at half-time.

“The third quarter really hurt us, as they started hitting all their shots and we struggled for rhythm, going into the final change down by 11.

“In the last quarter, we fought back, led by Bruce Ozolins (23 points), who scored 14 of our final 18 points.

“Despite a number of chances, including Bruce Ozolins at the buzzer, to hit the lead in the final minute, we couldn’t do so.”
