Nowra Men

On Tuesday, the Nowra Vets played one of their fun games. This one was the 4 Person Texas Stableford with best three of the group to score. The course is certainly showing its winter woes and likely to get worse as the season progresses. Some more rain would help and so would Spring.

The best for the girls was Linda Trusler, Shirley Moore, Pat Austin and Ellen Ryan with 123 pts. Balls ran out at 120 pts on c/b. The NTP’s at the 4th went to Lyn Hatchman, the 8th to Pat Austin, Joyce Wallace was good for the 12th and Jan Buttle was closest at the 16th.

On the bloke’s side of things, Rick Currie, Mike Shannahan, Rod Elliott and Ian Stralow with 134 pts. Runners-up were Cliff Weatherill, Reg Klein, Greg Christian and Col. Armstrong on 133 pts. Balls ran out at 130 on c/b. The NTP’s at the 4th went to Daryl Campbell, the 8th and ‘jackpot’ to Roger Hardy, Ernie Royston was good for the 12th and Graham Napper was closest at the 16th.

The Wednesday Stableford was a pretty competitive affair. You had to be 40 pts or better to feature in the money. Warwick Stubbles was one who managed 41 pts for first. Col. Grimditch and Brian Hawkins sorted out second and third by c/b with Col taking second. Balls ran out at 35 pts.

The NTP’s at the 4th went to Jim Brown, the 8th to Ron Rice and Michael Kable was good for the 12th.

The August Monthly Medal was generously sponsored by those stalwarts of Nowra Golf Club, Wayne Asher and John Barron. A Big ‘thank you’ guys, especially to JB for his recent donation of NTP cards for the club’s use. Well done!!

First up, congrats to John Austin for securing the coveted ‘Mug’ for the month with the best 63 nett. That was a three-way c/b too. The ‘A’ winner was Tony Hosler on 63 nett. Second went to Stephen Page on 65 nett and Leigh Quinn was good for third with his 69 nett. Tony of course got the scratch. The long drive went to Brett Trenerry.

Trevor Bond managed an impressive 63 nett as well to take first in ‘B’ grade and that got him the scratch. Second went to Hugh Lamond on 64 nett and yours truly was good for third with 65 nett. Long drive to Lindsey Jones.

The ‘Mug’ winner John Austin was the ‘C’ grade winner and scratch as well. Second went to Col. Reeve on 68 nett and third to Flash Jordan on 69 nett. Long drive to John Henry. Balls ran out at 71 on c/b.

The NTP’s at the 4th went to Graeme Wrightson, the 8th to Glenn Buikstra, Brett McCoy was good for the 12th and yours truly fluked the 16th with a driver no less.

A big ’thankyou’ to all who gave of their time at the latest working bee, their efforts where evident about the place.

WWPSWC

The WWPSWC AT SUSSEX INLET

There was eleven of our members down at the Sussex Course in very blustery and cold conditions to contest a stableford event. The winner of today’s event was the Boy Wonder with a hard to beat 21 points. A big help to his score today was a four pointer on the third after a chip over the bunker. Second was Fitter  with 18 points and he won the nearest the pin on the 5th. Third was Kiwi with 15 points  on a countback from the Bushranger. WD40  won today’s raffle.

Thanks to the members who looked after today’s barbeque in the absence of Skeeter who is not at all well. Thanks to the boy Wonder and Skeeter for forwarding on to me this news for publication. Next weeks games is the Ray Southall Trophy to be played at the Country Club hit off at 7.45 am.
