Firefighters believe a “deliberately-lit” fire could have been catastrophic for residents of a Nowra caravan park on Friday afternoon.

Fire and Rescue crews contained a blaze in a reserve at the end of Ferry Lane, Nowra.
Neighbours watched on, thankful the 10-metre flames were not fanned to their properties.
“Lucky there’s no wind, if it had been blowing like it was on Wednesday it could have pushed it towards that caravan park,” Fire and Rescue Shoalhaven station officer Ian Walters said.
“This stuff (trees, lantana) is primed and dry, it’s a real fire hazard.”
Two boys who live in view of the reserve rode their bikes down with a bucket to help firefighters on Friday afternoon.
“We came for a ride to see how bad it was,” Marshall Allcock said.
“The flames were up nearly to the top of the trees (10m).”
Firefighters suspect it was deliberately-lit.
They have been called to four fires at the Nowra reserve in two weeks.
