Despite this, Abed Atallah’s men, who currently sit on top of the table, are just hoping to continue to build each week heading into the finals.
“The winning streak hasn’t been discussed at all, as we are taking it one week at a time – there’s still a long way to go in this season,” Atallah said.
“Obviously it would be ideal to finish first but to do that, it’s important we maintain the consistency we have been playing with for the past couple of weeks.
“One dropped match and we are right back in that pack of teams with Jamberoo, Kiama and Gerringong, in a dog fight for finals positions.”
The Sharks head into the round 15 match following the week off, which should see the return of a number of players to the squad.
“The bye was good last week and has freshened up the bodies a little but as every club has at this point of the season, we still have a few blokes battling injuries,” Atallah said.
“From the team that defeated Nowra-Bomaderry two weeks ago, we should welcome back Dylan McGregor, while Brock Skelly is also a chance to play.
“We will be giving Brock, who has missed close to two months of footy, every chance to prove his fitness.”
Atallah admits though, despite the positioning of the ladder, there will be no love lost between them and Sunday’s opponent, Warilla-Lake South.
“There’s always a little extra spark to the games against the Gorillas,” he said.
“Both teams always aim up, so I don’t expect this week to be any different.
“It’s key that we match their physicality through the middle and play our tempo and stick to our own plan, which has been working so well of late.”
Sunday’s other games see Milton-Ulladulla host Berry-Shoalhaven Heads and Stingrays entertain Kiama, while on Saturday, Jamberoo take on Nowra-Bomaderry and Albion Park-Oak Flats battle Port Kembla – while premiers Gerringong have the bye.
