The zone seven conference was held at Sussex Inlet Bowling Club and drew more than 60 members from the six clubs of Shoalhaven Heads, Berry, Nowra, Vincentia, Sussex Inlet and Milton-Ulladulla.
“They come together each year to celebrate and share the work they have done over the year and to hear about our work in the local community they support,” Red Cross regional manager Jude Harper said.
“Today they also had our CEO Judy Slatyer attending and she spoke about the future of Red Cross and our priorities until 2020.”
Ms Harper said the volunteers engage in a range of different activities including fundraising and volunteering within their communities.
“We heard about things like our learner driver program and our Nowra branch who through the op-shop have raised more than $85,000 for the Red Cross, which is a huge achievement,” she said.
“A lot of the members are also emergency services volunteers and a lot have been deployed to Queensland following cyclone Debbie and into regional NSW following the recent floods.
“We also heard about our young parents program in Nowra who provide in-kind support for families in need.”
The conference also acknowledged Dot Galley of the Nowra branch who received her 50 year service medal. Moria of the Vincentia branch was also acknowledged for knitting 16,057 trauma teddies in four years.
