Nicole Hampton and fiancee Josh Carstairs took the steps their baby couldn’t recently.
The North Nowra couple lost their unborn baby at 14 weeks earlier this year.
Since going through the experience, they have met many others who have also been through the same journey.
Nicole recently organised a walk to raise funds for Sands Australia, an organisation that provides miscarriage, stillbirth and newborn death support.
“More than 100 people came together to walk in honour of all the babies gone too soon,” Nicole said.
Nicole said the day was “absolutely amazing” and gave her the opportunity to connect with other women.
“Amy Hepburn from Classy Cake made a very special cake. Amy's son Isaiah was still born this past January we have been brought together over our pain but now have a very special friendship,” Nicole said.
The walk was held on Sunday, July 23 from Moona Moona Creek Bridge to White Sands Park in Huskisson and back.
While she originally had her sights set on a $500 target, Nicole surpassed it.
More than $1100 was raised on the day through donations from the sausage sizzle, face painting and a donation of profits from a jumping castle.
A raffle featuring many prizes, both locally and interstate, raised $4000 for the valuable organisation.
Nicole has now turned her efforts towards organising a special high tea fundraiser in October, on what would have been her due date.
All funds will go towards the Stillbirth Foundation.
