The annual Shoalhaven Careers Expo for 2017 is Thursday, July 20 and this year promises to be the best yet.
From 9am over 800 year 10 students from Shoalhaven high schools will start arriving at the Shoalhaven Campus of University of Wollongong in West Nowra.
There will be over 45 different business stalls for those students to visit on the day, with many offering hands-on and interactive experiences.
“This is a day that aims to help young people and students think about their future,” Head of campus Robbie Collins said.
The students and other attendees will be let loose to explore the exhibitors offering opportunities in the workforce, education, defence and volunteering.
The year 10 students attending the expo are in the process of thinking about subjects for years 11 and 12.
Head of Shoalhaven Campus Robbie Collins said the businesses attending had been encouraged to actively and creatively engage with students.
Businesses at the expo have the opportunity to help students discover the different types of jobs involved in that industry and help them make informed career choices, through advice on study paths.
“They can also encourage training to suit their business needs,” Ms Collins said.
Some of the industries which will be represented at the expo include media, health and fitness, defence, public service, banking, disability, engineering, music, early childhood, design and many more.
There’s always a lot of attention around the navy helicopter and this year the expo will feature some four-legged friends, with alpacas and cows on site.
Parents, caregivers and anyone else interested are encouraged to come along.
