What a difference a week can make as the Mariners put in a completely dominant performance from the get go. Mariners pitchers Andrew Provest and Brenton McMahon shared a 1/2 game each and we're both outstanding, allowing just two runs for the entire game. Mariners hitters were on fire, inflicting 12 safe hits for the game with standout performances going to Gabe Tate with three hits and four runs batted in, Cameron McNicol with two safe hits and three runs batted in, James Trevanian and Brenton McMahon both with two safe hits. The final score was Mariners 17, Chiefs 2. This Saturday they travel to Berkeley take on the Pirates.
Our 3rd grade Mariners travelled to Thomas Dalton Park to take on the Pirates. Mariners started strong then took their foot off the accelerator, letting Pirates take over to win 8-3. With Mariners heads down our normal pitcher Lee Lawson battled hard having three strike outs but was doing it tough due to a shoulder injury. Andrew Provest was unavailable to relieve pitch, leaving Gabe Tate stepping up to the mound and performing well.
Standout player of the day was Jayden Brain with some great catches in centre field and having two from three hits with the bat bringing in all of our three runs. Jayden was assisted well in the field by newcomer William Poliopoulos who also took some nice catches in left field.
6th Grade Mariners travelled to Fred Finch Park to play front runner Warriors on Sunday. Mariners didn’t come home with the win but can stand proud, keeping Warriors within striking distance until the end with Warriors winning 14-6 .
Austin Raymond started on the mound doing a great job. New to baseball, Tausia Antonio had his pitching debut doing a fantastic job on the mound. New player Steve Farrugia took an outstanding line drive ball at second base. Brodie O’Reilly had a good game at short stop and a stand out with the bat.
