Have you ever wanted to do a tour of the historic Western Front?
Following on from the success of the Nowra RSL Sub-Branch’s tour to World War I battlefields earlier this year, the organisation headed by secretary Rick Meehan is already planning the 2018 adventure.
Sixteen locals were part of this year’s tour led by Mr Meehan which visited France and Belgium, touring famous battle sites like Ypres, Passchendaele and the Somme.
A special launch for next year’s tour to the Western Front and Normandy battlefields will be held on Friday, July 21 at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at HMAS Albatross.
The light luncheon from 12.30pm will be hosted by Emma Longford from Helloworld Nowra CBD, who along with Mr Meehan organise the tour.
Mr Meehan said this year’s tour was “sensational”.
“This year’s tour visited numerous sites to commemorate and pay homage to a number of local members of the Waratahs,” he said.
“A number of our tour members also had personal reasons and relatives to commemorate and it was a very emotional time.”
