A local school with a high proportion of Aboriginal kids spent the last week of term celebrating NAIDOC week in style.

Bomaderry Public School boys and girls painted themselves with ochre, and dressed in traditional costumes to perform a native dance at assembly on Tuesday.
Around 100 parents and grandparents trickled into the school to mark the special occasion.
On Thursday teachers organised cultural activities for groups of kids who rotated around the school
Kids look forward to a NAIDOC disco on Friday to round out the week.
“Thirty per cent of our students are Indigenous, we make a huge effort to make this week special,” teacher Dan Heather said.
Mr Heather started teaching six years ago.
“Even since I started, a new curriculum’s been introduced, and it’s much more inclusive,” he said.
“We incorporate Aboriginal perspectives into every key learning area; geography, science, English, maths.”
