For the very first time this season, Australia’s youth will strut their stuff for the big factory teams, and with an impressive line up of 9-12-year-old junior competitors itching to take to the track this weekend, the support class is sure to attract plenty of positive attention.

Yamaha Motor Australia’s Motocross and Supercross development supervisor Scott Bishop today explained why the manufacturer took up the naming rights to the development class, and also commented on the importance of juniors racing at the Motul MX Nationals.  

"Yamaha continue to invest heavily in Junior and development racing in Australia and partnering the MX Nationals with both the 85cc Cup class as well as the Junior Rookie Cup are just examples of that,” Bishop said.

"We think it's important to expose younger riders to high profile events like this and hope it inspires them to continue racing and enjoy their time racing at the highest level."

One rider who is more excited than ever for the opportunity to race at the prestigious Motul MX Nationals event is eleven-year-old Ryder Kingsford.

Kingsford today shared that he’s looking forward to not only the racing, but the one-off chance to mingle with Australia’s Factory Yamaha teams.

"I can't wait to race this weekend at Nowra and be on the same track with the pro riders,” Kingsford said.

“It's also pretty cool that I will be able to spend some time with the Yamaha pro race team riders and talk to them about the track and how they go so fast."

The Yamaha 85cc 9-12 Year-Old Cup class as well as three championship categories will take to the track at the Nowra Motoplex on Sunday, July 2 from 8am.
