The game was hard and fast with both teams pressured into errors and while there wasn’t much between the two sides as the scoreline suggests - those there at the game will agree that the Tigers let one get away.
The Tigers probably didn’t always take the right options, particularly when close to goal, plus a couple of line ball decisions didn’t fall their way, but full credit to the opposition who fought back to take the lead and were able to hold on and record a thrilling five point victory.
Bomaderry won the last encounter by eight points, so spectators should be in for another great game when these two teams meet again in round 17.
Final score: Bomaderry 8.12-60 to Figtree 9.11-65
Goalkickers: Nick Mackey, Ben Girling (two), Phil Cowan, Nathan Thomas, Jack Boxsell and Andrew Ellis one goal each.
Award winners: John Muggleton (Crofty’s Tyre and Auto and Deli on Kinghorne vouchers), Jack Boxsell (Bridge Tavern voucher), Courtney Ward (Kel Campbell Caltex fuel card), Corey Warrington (Tuscany Wood Fired Top Tackle award), Tyler Dunstan (Mamma’s Italian Kitchen award) and Ben Girling (Scruples Hairstyles voucher).
While soundly beaten, reserve grade gave a much better account for themselves going down by 81 points to Shellharbour City in a hard fought clash.
While the Tigers battled hard all over the ground, and actually won the centre clearances, unfortunately try as they did, they just couldn’t match it with the taller and more experienced opponents.
Final score: Bomaderry 4.4-28 to Shellharbour City 16.13-109
Goalkickers: Kel Russell and Brent Herdman two each.
Award winners: Kel Russell (Crofty’s Tyre and Auto player’s player award), Brent Tyrrell (Bridge Tavern voucher), Les Wardale (Tuscany Wood Fired Top Tackle award), Brayden Hiskin (Mamma’s Italian Kitchen award) and Jake O’Connor (Scruples Hairstyles voucher).
