In a crucial game for finals positioning, Ian Ozolins men burst out of the gates with a determined first half display.
“The boys came out on fire on Saturday, playing very unselfish basketball and found the open man on numerous occasions,” Ozolins said.
“Because we were constantly shooting open shots, we were able to put the Spiders away in the first half and get up by more than 20 points.
“It was probably as good of half of basketball that we have played this season.
“In the third quarter, we didn’t surge ahead even further like I would have hoped but the result was never in doubt.
“As well as running in transition, the keys to our hot form lately has been that the boys are competing at both ends, rebounding the ball at an excellent rate and providing strong defensive pressure, which allows our offence to flow on from that.
“In particular, when Alex Brown gets the ball and pushes it up the court, we look dangerous.
“Will Ozolins was a big beneficiary of that, hitting seven three on his way to his best game of the year.
“Brown himself also scored more than 20, while both Bruce and Tom Ozolins were also in double figures.
“I’d also like to highlight the energy that both Tim Hanlon and Lachlan Crowe brought to the court.”
The Tigers, who now sit in fourth place on the ladder with a 10-4 record, will travel to Lithgow on Saturday, to battle the Lazers (8-7) at the Lithgow Basketball Stadium.
“Obviously we didn’t play well when Lithgow visited us earlier in the year but the boys are keen to reverse the result,” Ozolins said.
Kerrianne Allan’s women’s team will also be on the road, travelling to Bathurst to play a top of the table clash against the Goldminers from 5pm on Saturday.
