The accident happened around 2.15pm on the roundabout at the intersection of The Wool Road and Naval College Parade.
Police said the woman was riding a Honda scooter motorcycle in the outside lane of the roundabout when her machine was allegedly struck as a vehicle, driven by a 73-year-old male, changed lanes.
As a result the motorcyclist fell heavily on the road and suffered suspected skull, leg and pelvic fractures, as well as serious head injuries.
After being stabilised at the scene she was airlifted by the NSW Ambulance Rescue helicopter to St George Hospital.
Police investigations into the accident are continuing and would like to hear from any witnesses.
