With her favourite animal adorned on serviettes and decorations, Gwen rang in her 101st year on Thursday, June 22.
She was surrounded by friends, family and staff at Berry Masonic Village.
Gwen grew up in Rose Bay and attended Sydney Girls High School.
Her daughter Karen Clarkson said her mum remembers walking across the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the day it opened.
“She even remembers the animals crossing the bridge,” Karen said.
Karen described her mum as a very caring person.
“She’s worked hard all her life. Her father was blinded in an industrial accident and mum cared for him for many years,” Karen said.
Gwen was an avid gardener throughout her life, with her cousin even starting the Gardening Club of Australia.
She has 10 great grandchildren and celebrated her 100th birthday last year with family at her favourite restaurant – Bistro One46 in Kangaroo Valley.
The staff at Berry Masonic Village wished the very special resident a happy birthday.
